Once you`ve found that perfect skincare routine, stick with it and you`ll see amazing results in no time.
So without further ado let`s get to the steps you need to follow to find out which is your perfect skincare routine.
4 Steps to the perfect skincare routine
1st Step – Skin type knowledge
You need to know your skin type. There are 5 types of skin. Find out which one you are and choose a regimen that suits it.
- Normal Skin – People with normal skin don`t usually have any problems with sensitivity or acne. Normal skin is balanced without any dry or oily patches;
- Dry Skin – It`s scaly and/or flaky and it gets rough with time. It can be sensitive and irritable at the same time and tends to age faster then other skin types;
- Sensitive Skin – This type of skin gets irritated and itchy when using makeup, inadequate skincare products and so on. It may often sting and burn.
- Combination Skin – It`s oily in the T zone and dry on other areas of the face;
- Oily Skin – It`s oily and shiny with enlarged pores(most of the time).
2nd Step – Cleansing
Once you`ve established your skin type it`s time to get to Cleansing the Skin. So how do you do that for each skin type? Let`s see:
Normal and combination skin – They don`t need much special attention, just wash the face with a cleansing gel or face wash without scrubbing, then rinse with a lot of warm water until all the product and residue is off.
A good cleanser for normal and sensitive skin is the Mary Kay Time Wise Facial Cleanser
Dry Skin – Gently wash the face with a mild cleanser and rinse with plenty of water. Exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle scrub to remove the dry dead flakes of skin. You can try using the Pevonia Dry Skin Cleanser with your hands or a face exfoliating brush.
Oily Skin – The face wash needs to bee oil free, rinse with warm water and use an astringent or a toner after washing to help keep the oils at bay.
Sensitive Skin – You need a face wash that is the most gentle that you can find (the less ingredients the better), which should contain calming ingredients like green tea, aloe vera, chamomile. Stay away from products that contain alcohol, soap, acids, fragrances and any unnecessary ingredients. Don`t rub or scrub sensitive skin, clean by patting and then rinse with warm water.
A healthy alternative to chemical based cleansers that will suit all skin types is the PriMiracle Deep Facial Cleanser with rosehip seed.
3rd Step – Moisturizing
You are never too young or too oily to moisturize, all types off skin need moisture. Dry skin and mature skin most of all for which i recommend the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for extra dry skin. Oily skin needs it too, only it has to be lightweight and oil free like the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Oil-Free Mattifying Moisturizer for Oily Skin. Never overlook this step no matter your age and skin type, the earlier you start taking care of it the better. The best moment to apply is after washing your face with warm water when your pores are still open and helps get the moisture to a much deeper level. Also don`t overlook night creams and eye creams, when used regularly they make a world of difference to your skin.
4th Step – Sunscreen
Best way to keep your skin healthy is to prevent sun damage by using a sunscreen . Sun damage can affect you skin in less than 20 minutes so use a sunscreen that works against UVA and UVB rays and apply daily. Even if there`s no sun outside there is still radiation that will affect you. I recommend using it even if your foundation already has spf in it.
These 4 easy steps are key to a perfect skincare routine , follow them closely and you will most certainly find what works best for you.
